Hello good people of St. Pius X Parish. My new parish family!! I cannot wait to meet and get to know all of you. My Name is Phillip A. Halladay and I was ordained in Nashville 3 years ago at the Cathedral. My first year after my ordination I completed post-graduate studies in Rome obtaining my Sacred Theological Licentiate (S.T.L.) in Catholic Dogma at the University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) which is the Dominican University in Rome. As a seminarian I also completed my general theological Masters level studies (S.T.B.) at the Gregorian University which is in Rome and is the Jesuit University. I lived in Rome for just about 6 years. For the past 2 years I have served as the Vice-Chancellor of the Diocese of Nashville, I was Chaplain to the Mercy Nuns at Mercy Convent and associate pastor at Holy Rosary. To tell you a little about myself I was born on the Gulf Coast in Mobile, Alabama and grew up in a strong Catholic family where I was educated in Catholic Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. I attended St. Mary's Catholic Prep and St. Pius X (I know ironic!!) Catholic School in Mobile for grammar school and I am a graduate of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile. I have an Allied Health Sciences degree and National Registration in Paramedic Medicine and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from The University of South Alabama where I graduated in 1995. I also have a Firefighter II Certification from the National Fire College in Emmetsburg; Maryland. My family consists of 1 brother, Paul who is a Priest for the Archdiocese of Military Services serving as a chaplain in the Army, 1 sister, Paula who is married and has my 2 nieces Phoebe and Hally, and my parents, Paul and Patricia. In College I worked full time to pay for my education as a firefighter/Paramedic for the Mobile Fire/Rescue department and then shortly after graduation began a 10+ year career in the insurance risk management field. Professional situations brought me to Nashville, Tennessee and I began studying for the priesthood for the Diocese of Nashville in 2010. Other interesting details about me are I have played, coached, and/or officiated football, basketball, and baseball from tiny mites through the collegiate level. As hobbies I enjoy all things sporting. I enjoy hunting, fishing, skiing, both water and snow; anything outdoors. I am very thankful to all the parishioners and staff here for welcoming me so warmly and allowing me to be a part of your family. Again, I am very much looking looking forward to meeting and being with all of you.
