I grew up in Bogata. Columbia, S.A., the sixth of ten children. I began my schooling in Columbia and completed it at Hume Fogg High School after moving to Nashville in 1972. I began attending St. Pius X Parish, and became active in the Women’s Club. As a result, I began to be more involved at the school. My daughter, Jennifer, attended St. Pius X 1st through 8th grade. When she was in the 8th grade, Sr. Mary Herman asked me to be the interim secretary, and 27 years later I am still serving as secretary.
Over the years, I have been involved in various roles. One of my proudest accomplishments was developing a hot lunch program for the school. I’ve been told, “I do it all.” I do whatever the student and faculty need of me; nurse, counselor, dentist, etc. I am a volunteer for the School’s Athletics Program, and am still an active member of the Women’s Club and Parish Council. Each year, I participate in the planning and volunteer coordination of Century Club, Italian Lights Festival and Oktoberfest.
I am a very active person, who enjoys spending time with my daughter, two beautiful granddaughters, Brooklyn ,Christina, and step-granddaughter Jordan. After being married for 28 years, my husband James passed away in 2002.
I see every child who has attended St Pius X as a child of my own, and I am very proud of all their accomplishments as they grow into fine men and women.
