Why are you teaching?: Miss Olbon comes from a family of educators, and has always been drawn to teaching others. She loves history, and wants to help others enjoy it just as much as she does! She loves seeing people make new “history friends” among the figures from our past, and thinks that teaching in a document-based, innovative way is the best way to get kids excited about history. She thinks that teaching history is also central to the formation of global citizens who are willing to make a difference in the world.
Why St. Pius X?: Miss Olbon attended Catholic schools at Christ the King and Father Ryan, and knew that she wanted to work in a Christ-centered environment and give back to the community that helped shape her into the lifelong learner she is. As for St. Pius X specifically, she fell in love with the students at some of the diocesan sporting events she attended - the students and their families were all so supportive of each other and the other teams, and they kept pushing even to the very end of the games. I’m excited to work in a school with such a fantastic community! I can’t wait to get to know all my new students!
What do you do in your spare time?: Miss Olbon loves to learn more about history, read, travel, sing, and play with her two dogs, Bruno and Olga.
Favorite Bible verse: Psalm 133 - “Ecce quam bonum e t quam iucundum habitare fratres in unum.” (Behold how good and joyful it is for brethren to dwell together in unity).
