St. Pius X Church was built and dedicated in 1958, with the first Mass celebrated on February 23, 1958. Bishop William L. Adrian solemnly blessed the church on the Feast of St. Pius X, September 3, 1958. St. Pius became a canonical parish on June 8, 1961, with Father Dan Richardson as its first pastor.
In the fall of 1959, Bishop Adrian granted permission for the addition of a school to St. Pius, which opened in 1961 with 70 students. The school gym was added in 1969.
Father Bernard Neidergeses succeeded Father Richardson as pastor of St. Pius in 1970. He served until his retirement in 2008, when Fr. Abraham Panthalanickal, who had served as our associate pastor, transitioned to the role full-time.
Today, St. Pius X is a thriving community serving the Metro Center Nashville area. St. Pius X Classical Academy, our PreK3-8 school, continues nurturing minds in all aspects of learning and the Catholic faith.
